Goodbye and Rest In Peace Christina Grimmie

On 24th July 2011, YouTube Artists featured a very lovable, lively and vibrant young keyboard player / singer - 17 year old Christina Grimmie.
Today on the 11th June 2016, I woke to the shocking news that Christina had been shot dead, at the young and tender age of 22, whilst signing autographs for her fans after performing a show for them at a Florida concert venue.

Looking on social media sites, as I always do soon after waking up, I saw a post on Instagram by Tiffany Alvord about the horrible news. I actually thought I was seeing things, or that maybe I had not woken up yet, maybe I was asleep and dreaming. Unfortunately it was true, and searching Google revealed the horrible truths behind it.

Born on 12th March 1994, in New Jersey, Christina knew from an early age that she wanted to be a singer. On 17th July 2009, aged just 15, she posted her first cover video, Don't Wanna Be Torn by Hannah Montana, on YouTube. After the release of this and subsequent videos, Christina quickly amassed a large online following, often hitting over a million views per video.

In 2014, Christina competed in the sixth season of The Voice, in Adam Levine's team, and managed to finish third.

Christina excitedly tweeted, what was to become her final tweet, "ORLANDO!! Come out to the show tonight at the Plaza Live! Starts at 7:30!", hours before the dreadful shooting.

The singer then performed with the band Before You Exit during the show at The Plaza Live in Orlando, Florida, and the show ended at about 10pm. She then started signing autographs for her fans at a merchandise table, and it was during this time that she was shot and injured by the gunman, this was at about 10.45pm.

Christina's brother quickly tackled the gunman, and during the struggle the gunman shot himself and died at the scene.

News of the attack spread quickly on social media and #PrayforChristina became the top trending hashtag on Twitter.

She was taken to a local hospital, where she later died. Orlando's police department tweeted: "With deep regret, we have confirmed Christina Grimmie, @TheRealGrimmie has died from her injuries." This then led to #RIPChristina becoming the top trending hashtag as fans quickly expressed their grief.

The Voice tweeted: “There are no words. We lost a beautiful soul with an amazing voice.”

On 28th June 2010, Christina posted a video titled "Ren & Chris - Documentary Of Life: Growing Up - Christina Grimmie", during which she has fun detailing what she could do when she grows up. She was never given the chance to finish growing up though! The video can be viewed here... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LAL-2TZZRpI

All Christina wanted to do was perform and make people happy with her music! Why wasn't she allowed to have a long and successful life doing that? Why is the world so cruel?

Her first ever YouTube video, a Hannah Montana cover, Don't Wanna Be Torn, will be the featured video on here for the foreseeable future.

Below is the image that I captured from one of her videos to use on YouTube Artists, on the day that I featured her five years ago, and also her links so you can go leave a message of condolence on her pages.
